Project
Woodland Wildlife Garden
Once an overgrown and underused space, this garden has been transformed into a thriving wildlife haven that blends seamlessly with the neighbouring woodland. By working thoughtfully with the mature trees and natural features already on site, we created a garden that feels part of its surroundings and full of life.
At its heart is a large, sweeping lawn framed by winding gravel paths and lush, layered planting that encourages you to wander and explore. New trees were added to direct views and create structure, while a dining and lounge terrace provides a peaceful place to sit within the garden. Raised vegetable beds with metal trellises for espaliered fruit trees add a practical and personal element for the client to enjoy.
The garden’s focal point is a naturalistic wildlife pond with marginal aquatic planting, large stone boulders and a gentle gravel 'beach'. A new garden cabin and decking sit beside it, offering an additional a place to enjoy the garden from. Among the large planted borders, a trampoline is tucked away for visiting grandchildren, and an existing dry-stone wall has been restored and replanted with a woodland ground covering mix and topped with a new seating area that offers elevated views over the garden. This rich, secluded garden now offers a sanctuary not only for the owners, but also for the wildlife it welcomes in.
