As is typical of most new builds, this garden started as a blank and barren space lacking character and life. The Clients wanted to create somewhere that combined contemporary hardscaping with more naturalistic planting. Key aspects of the brief were to include a lounge area under a metal pergola with a louvered roof, an outdoor kitchen with a BBQ and pizza oven and space for their young daughter to play. To accommodate the existing levels, that slope up towards the rear boundary, we've incorporated a low wall with full-width steps across the main patio and used contrasting paving details to create distinct zones within the garden while maintaining functionality throughout and boosting wildlife and biodiversity value.
