Naturalistic Woodland Garden

As seen in Homes and Gardens.

Set against a mature woodland backdrop, this garden was designed to complement a luxury new-build home for a young, active family. With large picture windows looking out onto the space, the garden needed to feel family-friendly yet stylish, with a calm and refined aesthetic. Often on the move, the clients wanted a space that was easy to care for. Somewhere to relax, recharge, and enjoy time together within their busy lifestyle.

At the front of the house, we introduced large planted borders with year-round interest and seasonal displays of colour to frame the entrance and create that all-important 'Welcome Home' effect. To the rear, the garden opens up to reveal a more natural and relaxed space, with generous lawns, a raised sun terrace, and a central outdoor kitchen with lounge seating where friends and family can gather.

Natural materials were key to the design, particularly stone, which was used throughout to reflect the exterior of the house. A mix of stone paving, gravel, walling, combined with bespoke timber features, adds texture and natural warmth to the space. Contemporary details, like the steel gabion baskets, add contrast and definition. Softened with planting throughout, the result is a refined yet relaxed woodland garden, designed for modern living with an effortless and timeless quality.
