Holiday Cottage Garden

Located on the edge of the Peak District, this stone building had been newly converted into a holiday cottage and the surrounding area was landscaped to complete the transformation. The space needed to feel private, calm and uplifting, offering a place where guests could fully switch off, soak up the views and enjoy a relaxing escape in the countryside.

To create a sense of separation from the owner’s home, we introduced a private driveway and screened the sunken cottage garden with terraced borders and gabion retaining walls. These terraces not only provided privacy but also created space for generous, colourful planting to enhance the holiday feel. Lounge seating, a dining area, and a hot tub were carefully positioned to make the most of the open views down the valley and wrapped in soft planting for an immersive feel.

The result is a secluded rural retreat with a vibrant, feel-good atmosphere where visitors can unwind and recharge in the idyllic countryside setting.
